Privacy Policy

Effective June 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how My Real Estate Prep (“My Real Estate Prep”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information about you when you visit myreprep.com or use our online study tool for real estate licensing exams (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

My Real Estate Prep is an independent study tool. We are not a real estate school, a state regulator, or an exam administrator, and we are not affiliated with any of them. The data controller for personal information processed through the Service is My Real Estate Prep. You can reach us at privacy@myreprep.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to operate the Service:

Information you provide:

  • Account: email address and password, or, if you sign in with Google, your Google account email, name, and avatar.
  • Profile & settings: your target exam date, daily study goal, sidebar preferences, and similar choices.
  • Study activity: quizzes you take, answers you submit, questions you star or report, notes you write, and spaced-repetition progress.
  • Communications: messages you send to support@myreprep.com and any feedback or bug reports.

Information collected automatically:

  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, language, and pages visited.
  • Logs & diagnostics: request timestamps, error reports, and performance data used to keep the Service running and to investigate abuse.
  • Cookies & local storage: small identifiers used to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. See “Cookies” below.

We do not knowingly collect government IDs, payment card numbers, precise geolocation, biometric data, or other special-category data through the Service.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and secure your account and authenticate you across devices.
  • Provide the Service: serve practice questions, track progress, run spaced repetition, store notes, and generate AI explanations when you request them.
  • Communicate with you about the Service, including security and policy updates and replies to your support requests.
  • Monitor, debug, and improve the Service, including aggregated analytics about which features are used.
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal information on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you requested), our legitimate interests (to secure, maintain, and improve the Service), compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where required (for example, optional cookies). You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.

5. How we share information

We share personal information only as described below, and only to the extent needed for the purpose:

  • Service providers (processors): hosting and database providers that store your account and study data, authentication providers, and AI providers that generate explanations on request. These vendors are contractually limited to processing data on our behalf.
  • AI providers: when you ask for an explanation, the question, the answer choices, and any follow-up prompt you write are sent to a third-party AI provider for inference. Do not include personal information in your prompts.
  • Legal & safety: when we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users, the public, or My Real Estate Prep.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to confidentiality and to the protections in this Policy.

6. International data transfers

We and our providers may process your information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (for example, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) for cross-border transfers of personal information.

7. Data retention

We keep account and study data for as long as your account is active so that your progress is preserved. You can delete your account at any time from your Profile page; this removes your study data from our active systems. Backups containing the deleted data are rotated on a routine schedule (typically within 30 days). We may retain limited information for longer if we need it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

8. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and browser storage entries to keep you signed in, remember your interface preferences, and record your cookie choice. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party cross-site trackers. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies from the banner shown on first visit; you can change your choice later by clearing your browser’s site data for myreprep.com. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will sign you out and prevent core features from working.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest at the database layer, row-level access controls, hashed passwords, and least-privilege access for administrators. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and notify us at security@myreprep.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account and associated personal information.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@myreprep.com from the address associated with your account. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

11. U.S. state privacy rights

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have the rights described in Section 10. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under U.S. state law.

12. Children

The Service is intended for adults preparing for a real estate licensing exam. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact privacy@myreprep.com and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
